The final-final update;
Jack Tapper over at ABC is all over it! The McCain campaign is only answering in geographical terms and refuses to comment on devices such as cellphones or blackberries!
A. Larry Ross, a spokesman for Saddleback Church and Pastor Rick Warren, says that the campaign of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has assured the organizers of Saturday night's "Civil Forum" that McCain did not "see or hear any of Senator Obama's appearance."
But as for the question the McCain campaign won't answer -- did anyone with McCain, given the questions via email or cell phone, share them with the senator -- Ross says, "I cannot speak to that."
Why that crazed response to Andrea Mitchell? Why won't they outright say that McCain and those around him had no access to mobile devices that could've allowed them to cheat? Donate.
There was an entry earlier today on CNN's Political Ticker about how John McCain was not in the cone of silence at Warren's forum on faith, and thus may have heard the questions that were asked of Obama that would also be asked of him. That entry has recently disappeared as others have observed. This comes on the same night that John McCain's campaign goes to war with NBC because of a similar observation made by Andrea Mitchell.
For once, you got to feel a little bad for Andrea Mitchell. Rick Davis is asking for a meeting with the president of NBC, Steve Capus, to protest her comments.
Mitchell reported that some "Obama people" were suggesting "that McCain may not have been in the cone of silence and may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama. He seemed so well prepared."
The actual letter from Rick Davis to Steve Capus is within the Politico article, and it's pretty damn confrontational. Here's the letter's closing;
We are concerned that your News Division is following MSNBC's lead in abandoning non-partisan coverage of the Presidential race. We would like to request a meeting with you as soon as possible to discuss our deep concerns about the news standards and level of objectivity at NBC.
Will NBC stand up, or fall over like CNN did? The things I see CNN report on about Obama, for no real reason other than to take up time, is often silly. Yet they'd remove their very relevant article because of one cry from the McCain campaign? The people over at CNN need to grow a backbone.
UPDATE:
Clem Yeobright snaps a picture of CNN's front page, including a link to the missing artcle! Attempts to click on said link just brings me to the Political Ticker homepage(without the missing article).
UPDATE 2:
JedReport retrieves the CNN article. Thataboy, Jed.
UPDATE 3:
How best to stand up against this? Donate.
You can also e-mail CNN and NBC. ESPECIALLY NBC to show support for Andrea Mitchell. Here's Chuck Todd's e-mail address; Chuck.Todd@nbcuni.com
UPDATE 4:
Our man Poblano is also on about the letter to NBC. Have you donated lately? Or at all? Click above. Do it. $5, $10, $15, $20, more if you can. Do it for those of us who're maxed out!
UPDATE 5:
Man, re-reading that letter is just a reminder of how confrontational the McCain camp can be. They really made a story by over-reacting like this. Is this a reflection of a candidate who's been described as having a volcanic temper? Pop quiz; who held John McCain's senate seat before McCain?
Seeyle of the New York Times confirms that McCain wasn't in that cone of silence. This is what McCain spokeswoman Nicole Wallace had to say;
"The insinuation from the Obama campaign that John McCain, a former prisoner of war, cheated is outrageous," Ms. Wallace said.
Tell that to McCain's ex-wife. I really hope they won't be constantly falling back on this prisoner of war meme. We all admire what McCain went through, but that isn't a four-decade free pass all the way up to the Oval Office. This makes me want to donate more. How 'bout you? Send $44 over to the 44th President-to-be and help us Democrats register and turn out millions of new voters to change the landscape for years to come. Take. It. Back. Donate. Heck I quit smoking, I got a spare $44. Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country!
Update 6, and final:
Did we have an effect? CNN has returned the cone-of-silence article to their Political Ticker. Good work! Now ride that momentum all the way into the Obama campaign's coffers. Donate.

Good question! Can someone give them the answer? Or match that $44 for the man who shall be the 44th President of the United States of America? Donate.
